Summer Breeze Inaki's Arrangement???

Some of my viewers questioned the originality of Inaki's rendition of Summer Breeze. It's been spreading all over the net especially in youtube. Before I made my judgement, I listened carefully to Inaki's Version, The Original Version and Jason Mraz' Version(The Version that is very similar and almost identical to Inaki's self confessed own arrangement). I'm having doubts in my mind about Inaki's claim of the arrangement of the song. I listened to the 3 versions carefully and I think Inaki copied Jason Mraz' Version. Everything is very similar and almost identical. Even the ad lib is identical. The ad lib at the end of the song is not part of the original version. I would like to note that he said that he sang Summer Breeze of Seals and Crofts, a very old song and he arranged it. Well the result of his arrangement was very similar and almost identical even the ad lib is identical. What a coincidence?

Well, I'm not destroying Inaki. I'm just facing the fact that his version is very similar and almost identical to Jason Mraz' Version.

We don't want to be fooled by some scholars who are trying to impress us and get our votes. I wonder if ABS-CBN will have a reaction on this issue because it's not an ordinary internet issue but it's a copyright issue. Any comments from you guys will be much appreacited.

Here are original, Jason Mraz' and Inaki's Version.
Be the Judge!!!

Scholars prepare for another Father’s Day surprise
June 17, 2008 1:07 AM

In line with the celebration of Father’s Day, the Scholars were tasked to do personalized t-shirts to honor their fathers. As expected, since most of them have quite dramatic family backgrounds, the Scholars couldn’t help but be emotional while doing the said task.

The surprise for the Scholars’ fathers didn’t end there. As an extra gift, Teacher Monet also asked the two teams to compose a song about fathers. They were given a couple of hours to come up with complete musical score and lyrics. After coming up with their original compositions, each team was required to present it. After the two presentations, Teacher Monet chose one from the two, to be performed on the Scholars’ Gala Night. Team One Voice had that privilege. Based on Teacher Monet’s decision, he liked One Voice’s song better than Pupilars’ because the song recall was very evident, one feature that makes it possible to suit the public’s taste.

Aside from the original composition, the Scholars will also do individual performances for the Gala Night. The pieces that they have to sing were distributed by Teacher Monet, and it will be up to them to come up with their own rendition of the assigned song. The Gala Night will definitely be a big night for the 16 Scholars, that is why the Dream Mentors are doing their best to keeping each of them healthy and physically fit.

To start the health campaign rolling, flu shots were given to the Scholars. Everything had gone well, except for some who unluckily have fear of needles.

Cris displayed a little fright of a little poke, but Apple showed the greatest fear of all. Before even entering the vaccination room, she was already crying like a little girl. Scholar Bunny, a natural mother, was the one who comforted her and walked her inside the room. And despite all her tears and whining, Apple still had the shot just like everybody else to keep all of them inside the Academy flu-free.

One Voice almost cracked out of tune
June 17, 2008 1:55 AM

That morning, team One Voice was too busy having fun. All of them were in good mood. They all did their chores with smile on their faces, and they actively exchanged funny jokes. They were even energetic and jolly during their Drum ‘a’ Drop activity, so the sudden switch of mood actually came as a great surprise.

Teacher Monet asked the scholars to sleep early, since the next day will definitely be a long one. Instead of sleeping early, most of them were wide awake, talking to other Scholars and joking around. Everything was going well, when all of the sudden the good ambience was replaced by an eerie feeling of conflict.

In the middle of the night, team One Voice gathered up on the living area. Things didn’t seem to be going well inside their organization. Sadly, there were reports of misunderstandings and conflict of interests that were not really clear to all of them, up until it was brought up during their spontaneous forum.

Teacher Monet joined them in their late night discussion. He sat in front of them as one by one they relayed all their concerns regarding the team and some of its members. Most of them had something to say, and most of it were minor observations – minor observations turned to criticisms. Some of the names that were highlighted in their discussion were Ross, Laarni, and Jet’s.

Fingers were pointed from one person to another. Some of them came face to face with their shortcomings as their teammates threw each of it one at a time towards their direction. Some admitted their mistakes while others denied.

What could be the reason behind the misunderstanding? What happened next after they all blurted out each of their concerns? Will One Voice still be able to sing in perfect chorus and harmony after this incident? Find out by standing by for more updates on Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.

The scholars evaluate their performances
June 17, 2008 2:16 PM
Gala Night is only a few days away and the scholars are yet again to perform on stage. To better execute their presentations, it was crucial for them to see what areas need developments and what should be highlighted. Teacher Kitchy then showed the scholars their Dream Night performances and subjected it to evaluation.

The Voice Coach once again emphasized muscle relaxation. She saw this in Apple’s and Christian’s presentation among others. Though Apple shed tears during the Dream Night, she still went ahead and gave a remarkable performance. Her voice was still relaxed enabling the muscles to function properly. Christian’s song and dance number was quite unique from the rest. Teacher Kitchy pointed out that the bobbing of his head actually helped relax his neck muscles and had him deliver a good presentation.

Liezel on the other hand was acknowledged for her musicality. However, the stress in her voice was also evident. The scholar herself noticed how her forehead scrunched up when she sang and decided to avoid this habit.

Bunny felt a little discomfort as she sang her number again. The scholar mom had a powerful song which required deep breathing and much more air supply. Teacher Kitchy then suggested her to practice deep breathing and then belting it out.

The singing bunch was divided into their organizations to practice their performances. Teacher Anna coached the Pupilars while Teacher Kitchy tutored One Voice. Bugoy, who belonged to Team Pupilars, commented that he was nervous with singing on stage. Teacher Anna advised him to get used to it. Besides, the Farmer’s Son had a nice voice though he was a bit tense.

With two excellent coaches challenging the scholars relentlessly, who would apply these teachings and give an outstanding performance? Catch the latest developments of the 16 dreamers on Uberture with Billy Crawford!

Complete Attendance: All 16 Scholars are Present
June 15, 2008 11:46 PM

The air was disturbed with great amount of tension as Hera, Lambert, Poy and Jet, the four wait listed Scholars, silently waited for Headmaster Ryan Cayabyab to relay the results of the text votes. All the four Dreamers have high hopes that they could be a step closer towards their dreams, but sadly, only one of them could put that hope into reality.

The feeling of anticipation was quite overwhelming. Headmaster Ryan Cayabyab called the names of the wait listed Dreamers one by one, starting from the name of the Dreamer with the lowest text votes.

The first to say goodbye was the Hera, gathering 10.68 percent of the total text votes. After her, the Obedient Daughter from Zamboanga, Poy, was rated second to the last with 17.46 percent.

Being the last two men standing, Lambert and Jet felt the pressure pressing harder and harder on their backs. Before hearing the final decision of the audience coming out straight from the Headmaster’s mouth, Jet and Lambert were reunited with their loved ones to accompany them on the final moment of judgment that they were about to face.

As for the results, Jet was the one who received the good news. He was able to garner 51.70 percent of the total text votes, while Lambert gained only 20.16 percent. Jet couldn’t help but be emotional upon hearing the decision. Behind his son that he lovingly cradled that very moment are mixed tears of joy and hope.

Upon Headmaster Ryan Cayabyab’s signal, in-house teacher Monet Silvestre stepped out the Academy to welcome the new member. On their way towards the door, Jet still couldn’t stop the tears that kept on falling down his cheeks. Still, he couldn’t believe that he was actually walking down the road towards the door of the Academy. And to his surprise, his entry was warmly welcomed by the 15 Scholars inside.

Now that the PDA Season 2 Scholars are finally complete, what could happen next? What are in store for them? Find out more by staying tuned on Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.

Jet Makes Up for a Missed Assignment
June 16, 2008 1:31 AM

After the warm welcome that the other scholars showered him on his first day, Jet was up for a surprise from no other than Teacher Monet. Since he had missed the water glass xylophone activity that the other scholars did the night before he entered the academy, an extra activity made especially just for him was given by the in-house Academy teacher. The task involves a list of things to be done. Teacher Monet passed on the said list to the new Scholar’s foster team, which is team One Voice, and held them in charge on the implementation of the task. They should make Jet do all the tasks listed in a span of a day.

Aside from Jet’s personalized activity, another activity was set by Teacher Monet. He gathered all the Scholars and handed over CDs to each one of them. He explained that these CDs contain songs that he is assigning each Scholar to sing. The said songs are subject for alteration in terms of arrangement, or the likes, that will suit the Scholar’s rendition. Teacher Monet likes to limit the song to a minute and a half, so one by one, he would like to speak with the Scholars, so that he could personally discuss what kind of edition they could possibly make, like chopping off some parts of the lyrics to cut the time short.

The songs will be performed individually, but Teacher Monet made this task an activity that requires teamwork. Again, the Scholars are divided into the two, and upon this division, it is vital that they look out for each other because the slightest mistake anyone in a team makes greatly affects everyone in it.

These are plain starters. As days pass by, the Scholars are bound for more exciting challenges. What could possibly happen to these activities that Teacher Monet had given? Will Jet be able to complete the activity assigned to him? Who will shine most on the first activity that the, finally, complete set of Scholars are about to do? Stay tuned on Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 to find out.

Building a healthy voice with Teacher Kitchy
June 16, 2008 2:12 PM
For three hours a day, Teacher Kitchy would be providing the scholars with voice lessons. Early this morning, the professor held the first of many sessions with them. Though dazed and groggy from last night’s events, the scholars were quick on their feet during Teacher Kitchy’s class.

The Overall Voice Mentor emphasized correct posture and right alignment. Apart from this she stressed the need for the scholars to relax in order to make their vocal instruments function effectively. All listened intently as the mentor introduced the different vocal instruments of the body.

Cheeks and larynx massages essential for relaxation were also taught by Teacher Kitchy. The scholars also learned proper breathing to better project their voices. Each was individually trained in order for them to get the right technique. While each had their time with the mentor, some chatted with the others. Teacher Kitchy then warned them to use their voices efficiently and not waste it on chit-chatting with their classmates.

Another trivia by the voice coach was that proper breathing is actually done while sleeping. She demonstrated this on Bunnyand said that as the stomach comes out, air is provided thus, enabling them to hold the tune longer. Before she left she gave them a few more tips for their first performance this Saturday.

Tomorrow would be another day, and another exercise and a sort-of voice therapy would be awaiting them. What lessons would the scholars pick up and utilize for their upcoming performance? Catch the latest developments on your favorite scholars on Uberture this afternoon with host Billy Crawford!

Discovering the X-Factor with Direk Joey
June 16, 2008 5:16 PM
The scholars were at a loss for words as soon as Direk Joey stepped into the house and frankly told them the truths of show business. He pointed out that stars rise and fade quickly. It was his duty then to bring out the personality of the dreamers and challenge them to sustain the interest of their future fans.
The renowned director stressed the importance of self-confidence and the ability to create a personality. He would train them as much as he could but it was up to the scholars to absorb every lecture and experience PDA would provide them.
Direk Joey’s primary objective was for the dreamers to know themselves and let this attitude shine in their performances. Being a good singer wasn’t enough; the audience should also see the music through their attitude on stage. Mimicking the styles of their idols was highly discouraged and they should find and develop their own.
To bring out the personality of the scholars, Direk Joey conducted an activity to open themselves up and be as honest as possible. Each had to pick a card and complete trivial sentences such as “Ang nararamdaman ko ngayon…” and “Ang ayaw ko sa sarili ko…” among others.
Ross revealed that he felt proud of himself and his fellow housemates while Apple admitted that the Dream Night was the happiest moment in her life. Christian and Chivas picked a tearjerker, “Ang ayaw ko sa aking sarili…” and both couldn’t help but choke on their words. The Small Boy Wonder despised wanting to please everyone while Chivas couldn’t express anger even if he wanted to.
Meanwhile, Laarni was angry with how people judge her without getting to know her. Bunny on the other hand confessed that she hates people who disrespect her. In the end, Direk Joey applauded them for being brave in opening themselves to the rest. He also reminded them that as long as they believed they were right, they should not yield to others. For more of this event tune in to the PDA Multiply Site and catch Uberture with RNB sensation, Billy Crawford!

Drum ‘a’ Drop and 5 Uber Da Tops
June 16, 2008 7:18 PM

On Uberture, everyone was thrilled with the obstacle game, Drum ‘a’ Drop. The objective of the game was to bounce a ping pong on a drum and shoot this in a fishbowl. But before they do, the scholars had to go through an obstacle course. The winners of the game would get a relaxing massage in the Jacuzzi courtesy of the losing team.

Hansen was first up for the Pupilars while Jet was for One Voice. The two put in their best effort to control the ball while jumping over the tires. The Pupilars made several attempts to shoot the ball into the bowl before they actually got one in. Will One Voice be able to score in the second round? Or will they once again be the servants of the other team?

Also on Uberture is a countdown of the Top 5 happenings inside the Academy. Last on the list was Bugoy’s display of his confident personality. The Farmer’s Son started singing away as soon as everyone settled in. Witty and bubbly, Bugoy was more than willing to entertain his classmates and be their source of happiness.

Top Four is a cooking class with Bea and Cris. Bea, a culinary student, was able to whip up her team’s dinner in no time and had everyone full and satisfied. Cris on the other hand doubted her ability and is ready to hand over the task to the next cook.

Top Three is the Scholars’ flu vaccination that got Apple and Christian wailing in terror. Bunny had to accompany Apple while Christian asked if he could have the shot in his thigh where he also gets his growth hormone shots.

Top Two is Cristina’s display of her dancing skills. The Singing Interior Designer grooved to an invisible radio and had her classmates cheering for her.

At the top of the list is Bugoy’s revelation that he wasn’t gay. Though he may be a bit effeminate and was unlike the rest of the guys in the house, he wasn’t what others think of him. Cristina assured him that like anyone else, he was unique.

Meanwhile, the scholars celebrated Father’s Day and were quite emotional during the exercise. See how the class paid tribute to their fathers, and Jet’s first day on PinoyDreamAcademy Season 2 on Primetime!
